The objective of this project was to create a modern architecture and design for a suburban home located in Dogwood Canyon in northwest Fayetteville, Arkansas. The architects from Modus Studio created a useful, purposeful, and poetic space that captures the dynamics of the site.

The redwood wraps the underneath of the bridge and is the support for a beautifully built ‘constellation’ of ephemeral lighting that creates an inviting entry terrace.

The southern wing of the home includes the garage, the storage space, and the game room. This wing is oriented specifically to cut down on midday the sun again to the outdoor bridge terrace. It has a stable and simple form, with minimal articulation.

Furthermore, the northern wing holds the primary family spaces which consist of the living room, the kitchen, the dining room and the master suite all nestled into the wooded surroundings.

Ample windows deliver natural light and frame views while the family hearth anchors the embedded and carved brick form to the site.

The kitchen is used as a hub for the family, as it serves as the landing point for the central stairs, where the children’s wing, the entry, and the interior and exterior living spaces converge in a rich palette of wood.

Large accordion doors open the living space to the bridge terrace and garden planters to create a dynamic indoor/outdoor space for the daily family life and entertainment.
